WJR Coaches

Darren is a Level III PSIA ski instructor with 16 years of teaching experience, and is also a Level II PSIA snowboard instructor.

Darren has spent the last 3 years coaching WJR athletes at Parks.  Prior to that, he was a WJR coach for 5 years at Ausblick, a High School race coach for 6 years, and a USSA coach. Darren also raced M.M.S.C.

He is a general contactor. He is married to his wife Sue and has 3 children, Dylan (9), Nicholas (8), and Emily (5). He enjoys outdoor activities such as skiing, biking, hiking, camping, and sports.

Steve has 30 years of coaching experience at all ability and age levels. Steve has been a coach with Ausblick for the previous 10 years, with the last 4 years assigned to the USSA program under Ken Wentland. Steve will be the Coach Leader for the high school program this year.

Steve holds a USSA Level I00 and referee license. Steve has also worked very closely with many regional, national, and international USSA coaches.

Desirae' has 12 years of race coaching and ski instructing experience at all ages and ability levels. She has been a coach with Ausblick for the past 2 years, and has coached with the Ausblick High School Program for the last year. She is also coaching University Lake School/Brookfield Academy's high school team for the 3rd season, and is a ski instructor/trainer with Snowstar Snowsports School. Desirae' holds USSA Level 100 and PSIA Level 2 certifications.

Her racing experience includes Ausblick Ski Race Team, Catholic Memorial High School Ski Team, and Northern Michigan University’s Ski Team.

Desirae' graduated from Northern Michigan University with a B.S. Degree in Criminal Justice and a Minor in Photography. She is a Graphic Designer for a local company in Menomonee Falls and is a paid on call EMT with the Menomonee Falls Fire Department. She is currently going back to school for nursing and would like to be an ER/Trauma nurse.

Dave grew up skiing at Holy Hill and came to Ausblick when he was 13 years old to join the CUSSA program directed by John Gehl, Steve Myett and Bill Wong. Dave skiied in CUSSA - Elite for 4 years including regular participation in Mid-Ams and Nor-Ams. After high school, Dave went on to ski competitively in college.

Dave has been a WJR J3/J4 coach since 2002. Entering his 7th year as a coach at Ausblick, Dave continues to groom athletes to not only have fun on the slopes, but to also win races.

Kevin is a WJR level 3-4 coach and this will be his fourth season coaching with Ausblick. Kevin was an Assistant FIS coach in 2005 and has been a WJR coach since 2006.

Kevin has coached with Blackhawk Ridge Junior Racing Program for four years based out of Madison and also provided on-hill Ski Patrol presence for safety and risk management. He has been a ski patroller since 1976.

Kevin has also been a ski instructor at various ski hills such as Villa Olivia in Elgin, IL, Sunburst, and Olympia and also has his PSIA Level III certification. In addition he managed the Nastar Race Program at Villa Olivia.

Kevin’s racing experience includes Madison Ski Club Junior Racing and USSA for 10 years, Wintergreen Ski area for 2 years, and Blackhawk Ridge Racing Program for 2 years. He retired from USSA competition in 1982 as an “Elite A” status athlete.

Kevin is a first year coach with Ausblick and will be working with Level 3/4. He has 8 years of racing experience in Michigan, where he raced USSA with the Leelanau Ski Club, and high school with the Traverse City Central High School. Kevin also raced in college and was a member of the Michigan State University Alpine Ski Team.

Kevin is an attorney and focuses his practice on estate planning, business, tax, and probate matters. He graduated cum laude from Marquette University Law School and received a B.A. in International Relations from Michigan State University. Kevin has been an avid skier for 24 years and his hobbies include alpine skiing, telemark skiing, mountain biking, and fly fishing.

Daemon had 7 years of racing experience while in Junior High and High School. This is his second season coaching with Ausblick and he is a Level 3/4 coach.

He is a commercial pilot and flight instructor with a B.S. degree in Professional Aviation from Everglades University. His hobbies include skiing, and scuba diving. 

Jeanne has been a Ausblick race coach for 10 years, a ski instructor with Snowstar Snowsport's school for 16 years, and a instructor trainer with Snowstar for 6 years. She is also a certified Level III PSIA instructor.

Jeanne is the owner of JJ's Insurance general brokerage, and also works a couple evenings a week as a paid on call EMT with Menomonee Falls Fire Department.

Other hobbies include x/c skiing, snowshoeing, biking, hiking, ball games, & travel.

Mike has been coaching Youth Sports for 25 years. His coaching range has been from 4 -13 years old. He feels he is most compatible with coaching this age. This is his fourth season at Ausblick and is looking forward to helping our athletes perform at their potential.

He has been a Coach, Director, and a President of youth organizations from the inception to taking a program to the next level. He holds a USSA Level 100 certification.

He has coached ski racing, football, basketball, baseball, soccer, track & field, and water skiing. He feels he brings a well rounded approach to the fundamental skills and drills we are working through to become better athletes.

Jimmy will be a WJR coach working with the Class 5 racers.  He has over 11 years of coaching experience, raced in High School for Brookfield East.  Jimmy has trained in CUSSA and raced in MMSC.

Sue has been teaching/coaching skiing for over 22 years. She is a level 2 Certified PSIA instructor. Sue raced in the Milw Metro ski program for 15 years, she was also president of the Banshee Ski team. Her hobbies when not skiing include water skiing, travel and hiking. In Sue's daytime job she is a Chocolate Tester!!!
